First, I reviewed all the works in Y1, and I think their commonality is that they reveal the characteristics of the image itself.
Commonality 1
I describe how the images should be rather than how they seem to be.

Melting 1 – The melting of images

Flipping – Image exists on the surface of an object
Commonality 2
In these works, images are an interpretation, a deception, a trap, and a visual illusion of the object.

Graphic Moses – The composition of a spread may not be as it appears.

RGB TO CMYK – One color forms the checkerboard image.

Next, I reviewed two works from this summer, which were inspired by my practice in Y1.

This is my ID card.

What’s the difference?

These further explorations focus on the relationship between objects and images, and pose further inquiries:
- What is the relationship between objects and their images?
- What is the difference between objects and their images?
- What are the unique characteristics of images?
In the previous two cases, the object and its image had a parallel relationship. Now, I want to see what happens when they cross.

Based on the above inquiries, last week I did a small visual experiment: using an “object” knife to cut an “image” orange.

However, a real knife can do nothing for the image of an orange. The knife merely slicing through the paper.
To cut an image orange, you need an image knife.

Some further ideas:
- My medium: (mostly) still life images, maybe through the form of a publication (because publications are a medium that can provide a meeting point for images and objects).
- For now, I reveal the characteristics of images by discussing the relationship between objects and images (The focus of my work, however, is to explore a certain quality inherent in the image itself, with objects merely serving as tools to help me reveal the characteristics of the image).
- Objects and images / Technology and images.
- Objects as revealing / Technology as revealing.
- Another idea came while cutting meat. The knife sank into the flesh, resembling it cutting into a book. I thought this form might bring something new. (this is also a combination of object and image)
